Cocoon was started in the summer of 2026, although the idea for it first sprouted in the spring of 2022. Having run Koffie ende Koeck for about a year, my old co-owner Leonie and I had started to dream about all the other things we wanted to offer in our space, but didn’t have room for: delicious brunch dishes, room for larger gatherings, both of friends and strangers… At the time we decided to focus on making Koffie ende Koeck (or KendeK, as we lovingly call it) the best it could be - but the idea never left my mind.

Years later, after Leonie had left to pursue other dreams and the KendeK team and I had been running the cafe smoothly without her for a while, I decided it was time to give this idea another shot - in fact, it was Leonie who sent me the first potential property in 2025! After viewing a variety of locations across the city, the perfect location landed on my radar: Admiraal de Ruijterweg, only 10 minutes away from KendeK.

Together with the previous owner Renata I worked tirelessly to make this place the perfect vegan brunch spot, carrying the same mission that we’ve always had at Koffie ende Koeck: to show that doing good for others and for yourself can go hand in hand, and being kind doesn’t have to be a sacrifice!
